Road to Wimbledon Tournament 2012

The club has entered for the Road to Wimbledon Tournament 2012. This is a competition open to all Junior players aged 14 and under. It is run as a Port Sunlight competition first and then our winners go on to take part in the County Finals.

The overall winner gets to play at Wimbledon!

Our Port Sunlight competition has to finish by 20 June so enter now and we can announce when each round will be played.

Match Practice 2012

Match practice starts Tuesday 3rd April 2012 for all team players to get ready for the summer season.

From 6.30pm onwards, each Tuesday until Wirral League starts (provisionally 24th April). Please sign up for club competitions whilst you are down – see the noticeboard inside the clubhouse. Look forward to seeing you there.

Car Boot Sale – Saturday 7 April 2012

Come and sell your unwanted items for only £5 per car or £8 per van, or come and grab a bargain – adults 50p entrance fee, at the next car boot sale in support of the club.

Annual Club Competitions

Senior members are invited to enter the following annual club competitions.

Women’s Open Singles
Men’s Open Singles
Women’s Handicap Singles
Men’s Handicap Singles
Women’s Handicap Doubles
Men’s Handicap Doubles
Mixed Handicap Doubles

We plan to complete all the competitions to a timetable with all the Finals being played on a single day – Sunday 15 July.

Entries must be made by Saturday 14 April so that the draw for each competition can be made and published on the club notice board as soon as possible afterwards. Either sign the entry sheets pinned up in the clubhouse or alternatively email Mike Nichol to enter.

There will be an entry fee for each competition, solely to cover trophy cost and engraving. Members who join the competitions will be charged £1 per person per entry, payable to the Treasurer, before the first match is played.

Again this year, in order to help keep to the planned timetable, each of the separate competitions will be monitored by a Committee member. These ‘monitors’ will be responsible for keeping an eye on the progress of their competition and, in particular, for reminding members of deadlines for matches as they approach, chasing up players as necessary and, ultimately, deciding who goes through if the match remains unplayed. The player least responsible for failing to play the match, as judged by the monitor, will go through.

Tennis camp – Easter holidays

A two day tennis camp for all juniors will take place this Easter holiday on 4-5 April. Contact head coach, Sean Cove, for more information.

The camp is a popular, fun packed two days and will help all players improve their tennis skills.

New clubhouse planning permission granted

At a recent meeting of Wirral Borough Council the plans for the new Bromborough Community Sports Club Clubhouse were given planning permission.

The club will now begin the search for funding for the project.

Working Party Sunday 25 March

Car boot sale

A car boot sale will take place on March 3rd 2012 at the tennis club.

All are welcome from 9am and refreshements will be available. Entrance is £0.50.

The car boot sale normally takes place the first saturday of every month from March to October.

Sellers should arrive at 8am and there is a fee of £5 per car payable.
